Heli Boarding
You're standing on the roof of the world, surrounded by the Rocky Mountains. The views of the Rockies, plus the Monashees and Selkirks on the horizon are absolutely breathtaking. A million acres of deep, dry, Rocky Mountains powder lie beneath your feet and all around - waiting for just you, your three companions and your guide.
Floating in waist-deep powder, you ride down a sea of pure virgin snow, grinning from ear to ear. A thousand metres down and you're in the trees. Riding in the trees the snow is just as deep, sheltered from wind or sun - unbelievable! Another thousand metres – and you spot your helicopter sitting in the snow, waiting to fly your small group to yet another run in boarding paradise.
Heli-boarding with Mica Heliskiing is the best riding you could ever imagine. Maybe it's beyond imagining - come and find out!
At Mica Heliskiing we cater to snowboarders. Mica Heliskiing's lead guide, Craig Ellis, is an expert boarder and knows how to choose lines ideally suited for heli-boarders. See the FAQ section if you have any questions, or E-mail us at info@micaheli.com.
What makes Mica Heliskiing the most incredible skiing and riding on the planet?
Small Groups: We don't farm snow...we ride it! At Mica Heliskiing we only run two or three groups of four in
the A-Star helicopter - just you, three friends, your guide and a million acres all to yourselves! By Skiing or
riding in small groups you can ski or board in a much wider variety of terrain, tailored to what your individual
group desires, beginner to expert. No waiting, no jockeying for first tracks, we take you to the goods!
The Skiing: The high elevation of the lodge only a one minute flight from world class tree skiing means its rare for us
to ever have a weather related down days - In fact over the last four years we have had zero down days for our ski groups!
Terrain: What makes Mica Heliskiing unique is the variety in our vast terrain. We have over a million acres of Alaskan style
peaks, giant alpine bowls, runs up to 2300 meters (7500 feet), endless steep tree skiing and the worlds best pillow runs.
From beginner to expert our tenure has the perfect terrain for every level of skier or boarder and we will gladly take you there.
The mountains on the west side of the Rockies are where heli skiing was invented. Today it is heli ski alley with more heli skiers
each winter than everywhere else on earth combined. The reason...deep dry snow!
Snow: The Western slope of the BC Rockies is a powder making machine. The area is the farthest inland rain forest in the world
receiving 13-20 meters (40-60 feet) of snow annually. Mica Heliskiing is located right where the moist storms from the West
collide with the cold Arctic air from northern Alberta. The result is consistent deep dry powder from November to May, with better
snow quality in warm weather cycles e.g. we weren't negatively affected by the January 05 rains. By December 1st our base is over 3
meters, by the end of April our base is over 4 meters and still dry powder on our north aspect alpine runs!
Lodging: Accessible only by helicopter the beautiful Mica lodge and new delux chalet are perched at 4000 feet over looking the
Monashee, Selkirk and Rocky mountains. Our private lodges have one of the most spectacular views you'll find anywhere. Mica lodge
has 7 bedrooms with full baths and sleeps up to 12 guests. The new chalet has 4 extra large delux rooms each with its own fireplace
(double or single occupancy). Our backcountry lodges have all the luxuries: heated stone floors, river stone fireplace, hot tub, massage,
telephone, wireless internet, Satellite TV and a Chef preparing fabulous meals.
Bottom Line: Heli Skiing or Boarding in small groups, skiing the terrain you desire and staying in your own private lodge with your own
Chef gives you the ultimate heli experience.
Small Groups, vast incredible terrain, deep dry snow - it just doesn't get any better than Mica Heliskiing!
