The Terrain Mica Heli Guides terrain spans 4700 square kilometers (over 1800 square miles), all on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. This spectacular terrain is in the northern end of the Rocky Mountain trench from Jasper National Park and the Columbia Ice Fields west to the Monashee and Selkirk mountain ranges.

We operate in seven different valleys, each with its own unique character and terrain style, each contributing to a custom, diverse skiing or boarding experience. Our tenure contains 470,000 hectares (over a million acres) of spectacular peaks, extreme faces and chutes, huge alpine cirques and bowls, massive glaciated runs, with 50% of our terrain being steep tree runs (see details below).

Mica Heli Guides has the goods, any terrain you desire and as much of it as you wish. Combine the greatest terrain on earth with 12-18 meters/year (40-60 feet) of dry, light, Rocky Mountain powder and the result is absolutely the best skiing and boarding on the planet...period.

First tracks? How about first tracks ever?

To date we have only skied 15% of our terrain. For the 2004/2005 season MHG is giving each group the opportunity to be the first to ski a new run and then your group gets to name the run. Here's your chance to be a part of Heli History!

Mica Heli Terrain Photo Tour

The Kinbasket Valley contains huge, open, glaciated terrain ranging from 1,000 vertical meter mellow cruisers to 1,000 vertical meter extreme faces. The view of the high peaks of the Canadian Rockies just east of us is absolutely breathtaking.

The Dawson Valley has a massive wide-open cirque at the valley's end with enough room for a thousand skiers a day! Take a jump run over the northeast corner of the Dawson onto the Iroquois glacier. The two Kilometer wide north facing run drops 1,500 vertical meters at a constant 35 degrees. Numerous 600 vertical meter old growth tree runs await their names in the surrounding valley.

The Tsar Valley contains 4,000 hectares (10,000 acres) of the coolest 35-degree gladed tree lines in BC. Take your pick - they're all fantastic!

The Wood River Valley is home to over 30 huge alpine bowls, each over 700 vertical meters. Many lead into old growth forests that extend another 1,400 vertical meters to the valley bottom. Do you have the legs for a 2,300 vertical meter (7000 vertical foot) run? We have a few for you to try.

The Molson Valley is located minutes away from the lodge site and almost always accessible even in bad weather. Over 6,000 hectares of old growth trees, chutes, bowls, peaks and faces, all about 800 vertical meters. That's three times the size of Whistler and Blackcomb, but for only you and your friends! Mount Clemenceau looms in the distance - one of the tallest and most spectacular peaks in the Rockies, with a Northern face that so far has never been skied.

The Harvey Valley is the next valley up from Molson and a favourite spot for many of the film crews. Harvey is where you find "Pillow Talk" a run named by Teton Gravity Research when they were filming here in March 2004 (see photo gallery). Over 1,200 vertical meters of huge bowls and steep tree lines litter the back end of the valley. The skiing and boarding here is amazing - truly unique terrain that you wont find anywhere else!

The Hugh Allen Valley is breathtaking - a series of huge bowls in the 1,200 vertical meter vicinity separated by more epic tree lines. Untouched, we still need to cut some pick-ups here to maximize the potential of this awesome valley.
